The Story
It started with a simple question at dawn: "What bird is that?" Standing in the South African bushveld, watching sunlight catch iridescent feathers, I realized how disconnected we've become from the natural world around us—and how technology could bridge that gap.
"Every creature has a name, a story, a place in the web of life. Kagn helps you discover those connections."
Kagn takes its name from |Kaggen—the mantis god of the San people, a trickster and creator who brought fire, taught hunting, and shaped the moon from a shoe. The mantis, poised and patient, watches over the veld as it has for millennia. Our apps carry that same spirit of careful observation.
Each app is crafted to work offline in the field, because the best moments in nature happen where there's no signal. They're designed to be fast, beautiful, and genuinely useful—whether you're a seasoned birder or just curious about what's singing outside your window.
